Supporting Healthcare in Berehove Through Enhanced Rehabilitation Equipment Initiatives

Visiting the Berehovo Hospital Named After Bertolon Linner of Berehovo City Council in Berehove (Beregszász) city was one of the most inspiring part of our agenda. This hospital is one of six key clinics in the area (Transkarpattia), and as Direct Aid for Ukraine, we have pledged to support its rehabilitation services by providing essential equipment.

The hospital's new wing is scheduled to open early next year. It is fully prepared, with all the necessary equipment already delivered and ready for use. We were joined by Mr. Bileczky, the Governor of the Transcarpathian region, who expressed his gratitude for such civil support for the region he represents.

The Importance of Rehabilitation Services in Berehove

Rehabilitation plays a vital role in helping injured soldiers recover from injuries and surgeries. In Berehove, the demand for quality rehabilitation care has grown steadily due to the high number of injured military personnel. The new wing of the regional hospital will focus exclusively on rehabilitation, offering patients access to modern therapies and equipment that can significantly improve their quality of life.

We were introduced to the management of the hospital in January 2025, by our friends at the TV21 local TV channel. The building was only used to store beds and other unused items.

By providing advanced rehabilitation equipment, we aim to:

  • Enhance patient recovery times

  • Reduce hospital readmissions

  • Support physical and occupational therapy programs

This investment will not only benefit individuals but also strengthen the healthcare system in the Transcarpathian region.

How We Are Supporting the Hospital

Our commitment involves delivering state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment tailored to the hospital’s needs. This includes:

  • Therapy beds and adjustable chairs for patient comfort and mobility

  • Exercise machines designed for physical therapy, such as stationary bikes and treadmills

  • Devices for balance and coordination training

  • Tools for occupational therapy, including fine motor skill aids

The equipment has already arrived at the hospital, and the staff will shortly begin training on its use. This preparation ensures a smooth transition once the new wing opens in January 2026.

What This Means for the Community

The new hospital wing will serve hundreds of patients annually. Malesh Ivan, the Director of The Beherove Regional Hospital told us, with the rehabilitation equipment in place, patients will receive comprehensive care under one roof. This convenience reduces travel time and costs for families and encourages more people to seek timely treatment.

Looking Ahead

Opening the new wing early next year marks a significant milestone. We will continue to monitor the hospital’s progress and provide ongoing support as needed. Our goal is to ensure that the rehabilitation services remain effective and accessible. Also at the same time, with our key partners in healthcare in Ukraine, we agreed to look at how we can best support mental health aid and fighting with addictions, as they see this coming next, when over 1 million soldiers return from their services.

Here we would like to say thanks to our partner in delivering the equipment to GER3 (Global Emergency and Rescue, especially to Hannah Tsvihun and Anna Calhoun.
